Berserk 2016 Review
Straight to the Point
- A few wicked scenes depicting gruesome torture chambers and goblin rape orgies.
- Pure brutal strength and constant evil arising.
- A very holy anime speaking about god too much.
- Terrible storyline about one fighting his way through evil.
Plot

Travelling to the deepest and darkest places, he continues to fight his way through an endless cycle of uprising evil. Berserk 2016 Review
I was getting my hopes up for this one! I mean ‘Berserk’!..you know it’s going to be murderous. However, watching a man walk around chopping evil spirits in half is great and all, but where are the awesome storyline and fight scenes! Unfortunately, there are only a few gruesome scenes and the rest is talking!
It should just be a guy on a murderous rampage but I seriously got BORED most of the time.
Ok ok…there must be a few good things about this anime, right? Well…I liked the fight scene at the beginning but then Guts does this style of fighting in every single battle. I was waiting for something new to happen but it didn’t. I had to focus more of my hopes on the other characters who were COOL at the beginning (i.e. Serpico with his swift battle style) but as soon as he was given a magic sword…zzzzz I’m back to sleep.
So I spoke about being asleep most of the time, what about when I was awake, was this any good? It was interesting, to say the least. I was fascinated by some of the unique 5-10 second clips within the story as they were pretty SICK and wicked. But looking at the overall storyline, it really was rushed and misplaced.
If you enjoy random scenes of brutality and not needing to think, then this is the anime for you. If you want an excellently, scripted piece of genius, look at watching something else.
Overall for this Berserk 2016 review, unlike Banana Fish where I was upset when it ended, I was relieved when Berserk finished. 🙂

Evilness
There are critical points within this anime where you need to pause and take a moment to fully capture the intensity of what’s going on. It really is brutal!
Places, where this happened, was from the ‘Holy Murder Room’ where normal peasants are sent to be tortured as the holy army is on a never-ending witch hunt. Diseased-riddled prostitution who partake in Satan orgies. And never-ending uprising of zombies and evil spirits that need to be slain.
Even at the beginning, it starts off with a daughter being possessed, murdering her father by chopping off his head, and then smiling….mmmm ok. Let’s keep watching!
Summary
I wish I could always enjoy the anime I watch and write a positive review for the dark anime here on Immortal Anime but unfortunately in some cases it just not possible.
While watching this anime and to emphasise in this Berserk 2016 review, I saw potential at the beginning but it never achieved anything apart from some sick random scenes throughout. The 3D animation was at times an eyesore and the fights scenes were very repetitive. The storyline was about god TOO much and the characters were interesting at the beginning but QUICKLY got boring straight after.
The quests turned into an adventure nearing the end whereby an introduction of magic was given which was a terrible turn of events!
Good
- Brutal strength and constant evil arising combined with heavy metal music
Bad
- Too much talk about god
- The 3D anime shadow is unappealing
- Fire breathing evil angel - really?
- Story is too random and sporadic
- Weird naked anime bodies
- Violin horror music at every turn
