Redo The Healer Controversy
Introduction
Redo The Healer!……INTERESTING…More than interesting! Just give me a moment to digest the first few episodes. 🙂
You would expect this type of anime to be the No.1 rating on Immortal Anime but unfortunately, this won’t be the case as I discuss in detail below.
Now if you are new to this show, then here is a quick overview. Redo The Healer is about a rookie hero who is treated like a sex slave while teaming up with other heroes. He is treated VERY badly while questing with the other heroes who only need him for his magical healing power. The EXTREME scenes range from being gang-raped on drugs by male and female characters to being psychologically damaged by the heroes and with his own power (he feels the healed person’s feelings at the point they were damaged while healing). He is eventually driven MAD and manages to reverse back time to a time when is was an adolescent before becoming a HERO.
He receives his power once more and sees his previous life as a slave and VOWS to redo his life with the MOST revengeful extremities.

Why is this anime so controversial?
Why has is it being banned in several countries around the world?
Essentially, this anime is Hentai (cartoon porn)! However, there is MORE to it than this….With Hentai it is all about sex but with Redo The Healer there is actually a brilliant mind-bending view into the worse kind of psychological human behaviours. This kind of experience for the viewer has rarely been experimented on within the anime world. Which makes this anime pretty interesting to watch.
Of course, there is the uncensored and censored version which you can watch. But let’s just remove the Hentai concept from this discussion and focus on 2 areas:
- The controversial side
- The psychological side
The controversial side to Redo The Healer revolves around the political correctness aspect of rape. Keyarga, the main protagonist, is gang-raped by the guards EVERYDAY to the highest severity. We need to remember that the topic of rape is automatically a touchy subject. This topic is further exacerbated by the fact that during Keyarga’s revenge, he rapes the country’s princess.
Now you understand where the CONTROVERSY comes from. Goblin Slayer can stand beside Teletubbies when comparing levels of extremities with Redo The Healer.
The second aspect of Redo The Healer is the one I find fascinating. It looks into the world of evil emotions, such as:
- Anger
- Fury
- Sadness
- Fear
- Despair
- Rage
- Manipulation
- Resentment
- Helplessness
- Etc
There is a WHOLE world of exploration of emotions to delve into for anime on these topics. This in summary is… ART. The depiction of the world around us being opened for everyone to see without being silenced.
I truly believe that anime in the future that works and experiments on these emotions can fulfil the role of a GENIUS writer if they remove the Hentai and focus their ideas on the emotions themselves rather than for viewer pleasure.
DEEP… I know! But this is what art is!
Summary
In my opinion, Redo The Healer is branching out its feelers to see where society believes the line is. And believe me there will be more of these type of anime to come, for better or worse.
